This blog is a response to a small group, Mormon Transhumanist Association, which consists of less than about 80 people, that I encountered because some of its members have been closely associated with people close to me. This movement appears to be an attempt at merging the philosophies of transhumanism with scripture and with the teachings of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day saints.
This blog is a doctrinal and philosophical response that shows these two sets of ideas are not compatible as expressed in the Mormon Transhumanist Affirmation. The contradictions between Mormonism and Transhumanism are fundamental enough that the two cannot be combined.
My hope is this blog encourages thoughtful reflection and respectful discussion on the topic, and encourage people to make a choice, as encouraged by Elijah, "How long halt ye between two opinions?"
